Tips
Because there are no shops up-river from Renmark town wharf, ensure that you have enough food and drink for the duration of your hire. Generally, you CANNOT BRING FRESH FRUIT INTO THE RIVERLAND under SA Fruit fly regulations. However, there are Woolworths and Foodland supermarkets in Renmark, Coles & Aldi in nearby Berri and a small IGA very close to the mooring in Paringa. See the Houseboat Info page for more detail – particularly what you can bring within SA, including pineapple, melons and most leaf and root vegetables. However, no fruit or veg are permitted from interstate.
You will receive instructions on handling the houseboat and operating its appliances before departure. The boat has linen, bedding and bathroom towels but please bring your own beach/spa towels.
We recommend Travel Insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances or losses.
Conditions
- Orlando is licensed and equipped for a total of up to six persons, including children and infants. Within this, there must be a minimum of two adults but up to four, with one holding a current motor vehicle driver’s (or boat operator’s) licence.
- Hirers may not travel outside of daylight hours or in particularly bad weather such as high winds.
- Also, no animals, firearms, chain saws or motorbikes.
- Boarding time is 1:00 pm and the boat must return to the mooring site by 10:00 am (9:30 am bridge opening) on the last day.
- You must pay a $1,200 cash or EFT security bond on arrival, for refund a week after the hire, provided that the boat returns on time, free of damage and relatively clean.
- The hirer pays for motor/generator fuel (but not gas) and any extra cleaning or damage to the vessel or contents, including losses.

Otherwise, our staff will make up two queens with a $20 fee for alterations on arrival.
Cancellation Terms
- more than 90 days before departure will receive a full refund, less $100 cancellation fee.
- less than 90 days but more than 45 days before departure will forfeit money paid unless the houseboat can be re-booked for its full hire fee, in which case money paid will be refunded, less $150 cancellation fee.
- less than 45 days before departure will forfeit money paid unless the houseboat can be re-booked for its full hire fee, in which case money paid will be refunded, less $200 cancellation fee.
Amendments
You may make one request to change, transfer or re-schedule your booking, without charge, at least 45 days prior to departure.
Notifications less than 45 days prior to departure or further requests subsequent to an implemented amendment will be treated as cancellations and the above Cancellation Terms apply.
Availability
The hire is conditional upon the boat being at the disposal of the hirer – unless prevented from doing so due to mechanical breakdown, river conditions or other unforeseen availability circumstance. Accordingly, we have the right to cancel any cruise without notice. The proprietors reserve the right to refuse permission to board at their own discretion.
In such cases, you would receive a full refund.
